Spicy Egg Curry Recipe - Dim Bhuna in 15 Minutes | Budget Bangladeshi Style.
Introduction:
When I was a kid, my mom made this Dim Bhuna whenever guests came suddenly. 15 minutes, 4 eggs, and a few spices. Cheap, fast, and full of flavor. If you’re hungry and broke, this Bangladeshi spicy egg curry will save you. Let’s cook-
Ingredients - For 2 People | Cost: 50 BDT:
1. Eggs - 4 pieces - 40 BDT
2. Onion - 2 medium, sliced - 5 BDT
3. Green chili - 3 pieces, split
4. Tomato - 1 medium, chopped
5. Oil - 3 tbsp
6. Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
7. Chili powder - 1 tsp
8. Cumin powder - 1/2 tsp
9. Salt - as per taste
10. Water - 1 cup
Cooking Method - 7 Easy Steps:
Step 1: Boil eggs for 8 minutes. Peel and make small cuts on each egg. This helps spices enter.
Step 2: Heat oil in a pan. Fry eggs lightly for 30 seconds each side. Take out. This stops eggs from breaking later.
Step 3: In same oil, add sliced onion. Fry until golden brown. 3-4 minutes.
Step 4: Add turmeric, chili powder, cumin powder. Fry 30 seconds. Add chopped tomato + salt. Cook until soft.
Step 5: Add 1 cup water. When it boils, add fried eggs gently.
Step 6: Cook on medium heat for 5 minutes. Add green chili at last. Sauce will be thick and spicy.
Step 7:Turn off heat. Cover for 2 minutes. Dim Bhuna is ready.
Chef’s Tip - Eggs Won’t Break:
Make small cuts before frying. And don’t stir hard after adding eggs. Just shake the pan gently.
Cost Breakdown:
4 eggs = 40 BDT. Serves 2 people. So 20 BDT per person. Perfect student/bachelor recipe.
