(Easy Sweet Dish Under 40 Taka) Food.Mhasan

Intro:

Friday morning at my Nani’s house always started with the smell of ghee and Suji. She made this halwa in 15 minutes with just 4 ingredients. No oven, no milk, no fancy stuff. Just pure comfort food.

Short on time and budget? This suji halwa will save you. Under 40 Taka, 1 pan, and tastes like Eid special. Students and bachelors, save this recipe.

Generally the most preferred food of lower and middle class families. High class families in Dhaka also enjoy this dish.

Many people mess up Suji halwa because of wrong ratio.Too much water =Soap.Too little ghee=dry and hard.

The 1:1:3 formula is science : 1 cup Suji needs 3tbsp ghee to coat each grain. This prevents Sticking.2 cups hot water gives perfect steam to make it fluffy.

In Bangladesh, our mother's don't use measuring Cups. They use " haat er andaj"But for students and bachelors living alone, this exact measurement will save their breakfast. No waste,no fail.

Ingredients for 2 People

 Suji/Semolina 1 cup - 20 Taka

- Ghee 3 tbsp - 15 Taka

- Sugar 1/2 cup - 5 Taka

- Water 2 cups + Cardamom 2 pcs

Total Cost: 40 Taka only

Instructions

Step 1: Roast Suji

Heat 3 tbsp ghee in a pan on medium-low heat. Add 1 cup suji. Roast 4-5 minutes until light golden and nutty smell comes. Keep stirring. Don’t burn

Step 2: Make Sugar Syrup

In another pot, boil 2 cups water with 1/2 cup sugar and 2 cardamom. Let sugar dissolve fully.

Step 3: Mix & Cook

Slowly pour hot sugar water into roasted suji. Be careful, it will bubble. Stir fast for 3-4 minutes until water dries and halwa becomes fluffy

Step 4: Serve Hot

Turn off heat. Cover 2 minutes. Garnish with raisins or nuts if you have. Serve hot with tea or paratha

Pro Tips

1. *Low heat is key*: High heat will burn suji. Keep flame low for perfect color.

2. *Hot water trick*: Always use hot sugar water. Cold water makes lumps.

3. *Ghee amount*: More ghee = more tasty. But 3 tbsp is budget friendly.

Serving ideas:

This halwa is not just for breakfast.Eat it with luchi for Friday brunch.Pack it in tiffin for school. Serve it warm during winter nights with milk tea.In Dhaka, Street vendors sell similar halwa for 60 taka per plate. But your home made version is cheaper and more hygienic.
